Buzz off peckers

I want some opinions on if this is wood pecker or carpenter bee damage. There are some pictures of old, now painted damage, and some fresh this year. I've got smaller holes that don't go all the way through, so I'm guessing wood peckers.

Also if anyone can help with information on repairing a hole in a cedar shingle that would be great!

Looks like woodpecker damage. Last year I had a very stubborn woodpecker. I could get within 4 ft of him before he would fly away. I took an extra cedar shingle and shoved it under the shingle above the hole. The woodpecker started another hole in it and then gave up. Jan

I would guess woodpecker damage but sometimes carpenter bees or other bugs bore into the wood and the woodpeckers hear them in the wood and peck at the wood to get at them.....carpenter bees make a 3/8 inch hole in unfinished wood....this may explain the wood pecker problem...I would consult a pest control tech to examine why the wood peckers are targeting you home...
